Hand launch

The plane starts in your hand. To throw it, hold the throttle above 55 %, as you do at the field. You can also press Space. R picks the plane up again: the sim carries it back to your hand, and then you can throw it again. Your first throw shows each step.

Throttle up throws the plane

This is the launch that you use at the field. Hold the throttle above 55 % for a short time, and the plane goes.

If the plane is in hand, set the throttle above 55 % with Shift, or with the number keys. The plane leaves your hand and climbs away.

Except when the pitch stick is forward: see A throw with the nose down crashes the plane.

Except when the sim is paused: see A pause holds the plane in your hand.

If the plane is in hand, set the throttle above 55 % with Shift, or with the number keys. The plane leaves your hand and climbs away.

See it in Your first pylon race, A game of tag, Your first throw, Watching from every view, Taking a break.

Reset picks the plane back up

Close the throttle first. If the throttle is open, the plane goes again when it is back in your hand. While the sim carries the plane back, the HUD says "Bringing it back to your hand...".

If the throttle is below 55 %, press R. The plane is in your hand at the pilot box.

A throw with the nose down crashes the plane

If you hold the stick forward, the plane flies into the ground immediately after it leaves your hand.

If the plane is in hand and the pitch stick is forward, set the throttle above 55 % with Shift, or with the number keys. The plane hits the ground, and the HUD says CRASHED with the reason and "Press R to reset".

An exception to Throttle up throws the plane.

Except when the sim is paused: see A pause holds the plane in your hand.
