Vertical take-off and landing

A VTOL needs no runway and no throw. You arm it, and VTOL TKOF lifts it straight up to the plan altitude. It stays there until you tell it to do something else. QLAND brings it straight down, and ArduPilot disarms it when it is on the ground.

VTOL TKOF lifts the plane straight up

If the vehicle is armed and the plane is on the ground, press VTOL TKOF. The plane climbs straight up to the plan altitude. The plane stays at one place in the air, and the speed in the PFD is near 0. The height above home is at least 15 m.
