SIM001 › Flying the VTOL › Flying with a flight controller
Your first hover › Arm, lift off, hold the hover and bring the plane home passed
As a new pilot with a VTOL, I want to lift off, hold a hover and bring the plane home to land, so that I can fly the T1-S VTOL from the sim alone, with no ground station.
The test behind the tutorial Your first hover: every step it takes, what it checks and what it saw.
Start
From the setup of Flying with a flight controller, and:
Given the autopilot is disarmed
Everything it starts with
Given the throttle is 0 % And the pitch stick is centred And the roll stick is centred And the flight controller is fitted And the flight mode is MANUAL And the sim is running And the autopilot is disarmed

- Every arranged state read back as arranged (7)
1 When the pilot arms the plane
When the pilot arms the plane Then the autopilot is armed
Expected behaviour: Arming lets ArduPilot run the motors.

- the autopilot is armed · Arming lets ArduPilot run the motors
2 When the pilot opens the throttle to climb
When the pilot opens the throttle to climb Then the plane is flying
Expected behaviour: Opening the throttle lifts the VTOL straight up.

- the plane is flying · Opening the throttle lifts the VTOL straight up
3 When the throttle is 0 %
When the throttle is 0 % Then the plane is flying
Expected behaviour: Closing the throttle holds the hover.

- the plane is flying · Closing the throttle holds the hover
4 When the pilot sends the plane home
When the pilot sends the plane home Then the plane is on the ground
Expected behaviour: Sending the plane home lands it.

- the plane is on the ground · Sending the plane home lands it
